Technologies from Amazon Web Services, AWS Elemental and partners power video solutions at IBC

Amazon Web Services will highlight innovations in video production and delivery at IBC 2017 on stand 5.C80. The company will provide a look at new technologies and integrations that allow video providers to create video workflows on-premises or in the cloud.

“The rate of change in the video industry continues to accelerate as advancements in streaming formats, video quality, and artificial intelligence put remarkable new tools in place to enhance viewing experiences while reducing operational costs,” says Keith Wymbs, chief marketing officer, AWS Elemental. “To keep pace, video providers must expand their capabilties by making the move to cloud-based infrastructure and preparing for new and emerging media standards, such as the Common Media Application Format. We look forward to sharing innovations and insights that will help attendees navigate the exciting future of video production and delivery at IBC 2017.”

Advancing video workflows

AWS Elemental will participate in three panel sessions during the conference. Keith Wymbs will join fellow industry leaders to explore innovations in live programming as part of Live is Dead. Long Live Live, Sept. 16, 9:25 to 10:20 a.m. in Room E102. Simon Frost, AWS Elemental head of marketing and business development for the EMEA region, will chair panel session What Will 5G Mean for Media? Sept. 16, 12:10 to 1:00 p.m., also in Room E102, revealing opportunities for video providers enabled by forthcoming fifth-generation mobile networks.

Finally, Brandon Zupancic, AWS Elemental senior manager of global business development and partner strategies, will join a Virtual Reality Panel VR – Creating Fans and Transforming Brands, Sept. 16, 4:50 to 5:50 p.m. in the Future Reality Theatre. The panel will be moderated by Sam Rosen, ABI Research vice president.

Visitors to stand 5.C80 will see demonstrations of a broad range of innovative video workflows and technologies. AWS Elemental will showcase a real-world live- and file-based over-the-top (OTT) video processing workflow that delivers media in the Common Media Application Format (CMAF) and fragmented MP4. Featuring AWS Elemental Live encoding, AWS Elemental Server transcoding and AWS Elemental Delta packaging software, this demonstration will illustrate the advantages of transitioning from traditional Advanced Video Coding (AVC) workflows to High-efficiency Video Coding (HEVC) as the industry begins to shift toward a single delivery format for multiscreen video.
