EWE deploys IPTV solution with Zattoo and ABOX42

EWE launches IPTV solution

One month after the introduction of mobile TV applications, EWE completes its TV portfolio. With the new IPTV product, customers of the brands EWE, swb and osnatel can watch TV at home.

By opting for the Multiscreen IPTV solution, EWE has chosen a TV product from Zattoo in cooperation with ABOX42, which is completely hosted and managed by Zattoo. This means that Zattoo runs and continuously develops the entire TV platform from the Headend to EWE’s own TV applications for the set-top box and mobile devices.

The set-top box platform for the IPTV product comes from ABOX42. In addition to the set-top box hardware, the ABOX42 software stack and lifecycle management system, the Karlsruhe based company also provides the interfaces for the integration of the Zattoo TV application.

It is important to us to offer a modern product for the television experience at home. Thanks to the cooperation with Zattoo and ABOX42, we are able to position ourselves in the market with a competitive TV offer”, has said Alexander Kreis, Head of Product Management Services.

EWE’s TV Home product

With the new TV Home product, EWE customers can also look at different stations in parallel on set-top boxes, tablets, PCs or smartphones. From over 100 live TV channels, each customer can generate an individual channel list, which is synchronized across all devices. In addition to the almost 50 HD channels in the basic TV package, a private HD package as well as foreign language packages can be added.

Gernot Jaeger, Zattoo, CEO of B2B TV Solutions, has added: “We are delighted that we were able to convince another major telecommunication provider in EWE to go with our modern IPTV solution. This confirms the trend not to invest in expensive TV systems, but to go with Zattoo and ABOX42 as partners for IPTV.
