As HDR is firmly advancing in the film industry, companies are starting to embrace High Dynamic Range features to their hardware and software. Nevion cannot trail behind and that’s the reason why the company just announced the support for HDR 4:4:4 12-bit JPEG 2000 compression to Virtuoso, its software-defined media node.
This new feature allows the transport of color-accurate video in real-time over IP for several color spaces (RGB, XYZ and YCbCr) and formats (2K, 4K and stereoscopic). According to the company, “a single virtuoso unit can handle up to eight 2k HDR streams, two 4K HDR streams or one 4K HDR stereoscopic stream”. Virtuoso was already compatible with HDR 4:2:2 10-bit content.
