SIS (Sports Information Services), a 24/7 live betting service provider, has updated its automatic workflow for their horse and greyhound racing production services with the Grass Valley’s LiveTouch solution. This technology permits SIS to offer slow-motion and instant replays, supporting creation, editing, metadata entry and playback from multiple venues by only two operators.
Specifically, SIS is using a LiveTouch Max 2 server in a 6 in/4 out configuration with two LiveTouch Panels. This set up is complemented with the Grass Valley’s FileFlow engine, which manage everything related to transwrapping or transcoding camera and file formats; and the Live Touch Controller’s T-Bar, allowing operators to slow down live replays. These replays could be stored in an internal or external storage, making it available to all user on the SIS network. Currently, SIS is also using two Grass Valley Kahuna 9600 live production switchers.
According to Chris Thronton, Head of Engineering and Distribution at SIS, Grass Valley has “understand our requirements and deliver the best”: “Live racing production requires fast, agile and robust workflows that leave no room for error. We were endeavoring to automate our workflow and required a system that allowed us to manually select the best clips for replay – and to do this with as few operators as possible”.
