VNPTi chooses ATEME to cover APEC 2017 event in Vietnam

ATEME’s encoders/decoders were already adopted by VNPTi for their DSNGs in the past

ATEME announces that VNPTi (a subsidiary of Vietnam Posts and Telecommunications),  the biggest satellite transmission service provider in Vietnam, has deployed its Kyrion encoders and decoders to cover the APEC (Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation) 2017 event in Da Nang in November this year.

ATEME’s encoders/decoders were already adopted by VNPTi for their DSNGs in the past, and this previous experience led VNPTi to use ATEME’s contribution technology to transmit their full package of bandwidth and uplink services to both Vietnamese and international broadcasters.

This solution has been designed for contribution over satellite and IP networks, with added value features such as ultra-fast-boot, ultra-low latency, and ABR output. The ATEME Kyrion offers a software-upgradable HEVC encoding option to support UHD video streaming as well as legacy MPEG2 to H264 compressions.

“In 2015, we equipped a number of ATEME’s encoders/decoders for our DSNG and we used them to provide media transmission services for many important political, cultural and sporting events in Vietnam. We were very happy with the quality and robustness of these products, and for that reason we are about to equip two more DSNGs with ATEME’s encoders/decoders for the APEC 2017 event in Da Nang in November 2017. There is no doubt that we will also be using them for other important events in the future,” says Mr. Khuong Ngoc Binh, Technical Manager at VNPTi.

“Our Kyrion solutions are renowned for being able to cope with even the most demanding of environments, while in turn removing all operational constraints related to events transmission,” comments Nguyen Duc Long, Regional Sales Manager at ATEME. “This recurring purchase of ATEME’s Kyrions by VNPTi proves again that our solution satisfies critical broadcaster’s needs, such as providing more content delivery venues with less bandwidth while retaining the highest possible video quality.”
