WGTD-FM transforms its production workflow with JVC cameras and the ProHD Studio 4000s production system

WGTD FM coverage of a high school game with JVC camcordes and a Pro HD Studio 4000s

The Kenosha (Wis.) nonprofit radio station WGTD-FM has decided to cover its local high school sports on Facebook Live with three GY-HM250SP 4KCAM sport production streaming camcorders and a ProHD Studio 4000S production and streaming solution. The station has been deploying this system since the first weeks of the 2018 football season and, satisfied with the results, has decided to continue the process during the 2019 league.

The coverage is streamed to Facebook Live in 720p, with the station rotating game coverage between several venues. The production crew is located in the press box at each field, with two cameras positioned in the “crow’s nest” outside the press box and a third on the field. These devices are connected with the Studio 4000S through HD-SDI.

The system offers advantages such as an integrated replay system with slow-motion replays, dynamic camera switching and freeze frame options. To complete the broadcast, the crew brings a SportzCast Scorebot to each game, receiving, when connected to the scoreboard, automatic scoring updates.

The camcorder deployed for these transmissions, the GY-HM250SP, includes features such as an integrated Facebook Live system, 24x dynamic zoom lens with optical image stabilizer, integrated sports graphics, dual XLR audio inputs and support for a variety of file formats and frame rates.
