AV Stumpfl, renowned for its Pixera media server, has taken another significant step forward in virtual production by installing a cutting-edge ROE Visual LED wall. This move strengthens the company’s already formidable position in the evolving virtual production landscape. Given their longstanding relationship, it was a natural choice for AV Stumpfl to turn to ROE Visual, a company widely recognized for its expertise in broadcast, film, and studio environments.
As virtual production transitions from an emerging concept to an essential tool in modern filmmaking and broadcasting, AV Stumpfl is embracing its potential. “As virtual production continues to grow, we are excited to present a fully functional and bulletproof system,” the company stated. Harry Gladow, Executive Director of Pixera, emphasized, “Our Pixera platform is already widely used for broadcast applications, and the addition of the ROE Visual LED wall enhances our ability to lead in this dynamic field.”
Seamless collaboration
The collaboration between AV Stumpfl and ROE Visual was marked by smooth communication and technical support from key ROE Visual figures, including Roelof Bouwman, Erik Baum, and Olaf Sperwer. This synergy facilitated a seamless integration of the ROE Visual Ruby LED panels into the Pixera environment. “Their prompt response and expert guidance ensured a smooth integration process,” added Gladow.
Rainer Brandstätter, AV Stumpfl’s Product Partnership Manager, personally participated in the installation. “The setup was as easy as possible, and we completed the whole installation in a Monday morning. Connecting Pixera to the LED controller with SMPTE 2110 was straightforward, and getting the first image up was user-friendly,” Brandstätter noted. This ease of integration reflects the growing demand for streamlined, user-friendly workflows in both broadcast and virtual production settings.
Research, Development, and Training
The new LED wall, located at AV Stumpfl’s headquarters in Wallern, Austria, plays a pivotal role in ongoing R&D efforts. It allows the company to test and refine its virtual production solutions across a variety of market segments, from live events to the rapidly growing film industry. Oliver Hauser, Director of Research, highlighted the wall’s importance: “The LED wall’s system ability to process direct 2110 feeds via a dedicated input card enhances our testing capabilities, helping us achieve market-leading quality.”
Beyond R&D, the wall is proving instrumental in AV Stumpfl’s sales and service initiatives. By offering hands-on demonstrations of virtual production capabilities, clients can experience first-hand how the integration of PIXERA media servers and ROE Visual’s Ruby LED panels delivers a powerful, user-friendly system.
In line with the growing demand for specialized virtual production education, AV Stumpfl is also utilizing the LED wall for internal training and customer support. “We are thrilled to offer in-depth virtual production training at our headquarters, supported by the ROE Visual LED wall,” said Florian Eder, Head of Projects and Service Operations. This facility enables AV Stumpfl to address technical inquiries efficiently and provide robust training opportunities for the industry.
Showcasing Latest Technology
The ROE Visual LED wall was recently a focal point at AV Stumpfl’s “Lange Nacht der Forschung” event, where the public, especially young audiences, got a glimpse of the latest in virtual production technology. This engagement underscores AV Stumpfl’s role as a leader in pushing the boundaries of what is possible in media production.
As Brandstätter remarked, “VP technology is not sold through a website or brochure. So many technologies must work together—media servers, LED processors, tracking systems, and cameras—to deliver a seamless experience.”
