The final hours of IBC 2026 are underway as this year’s show draws to a close. These intense days in Amsterdam have brought a steady stream of announcements and new developments, which we have been covering on our website. With all these stories now on the table, our aim is to take a step back and build a broader picture of what IBC 2026 has revealed about the direction the industry is taking.
We can already identify some of the key themes we are taking away from the show, based on the many conversations our editorial team has had with some of the industry’s leading players in Amsterdam.
Interoperability and multi-vendor initiatives; ease of use as a priority in the development of new solutions; an accelerating shift towards software; alliances between companies operating at different stages of the production chain and across the broadcast and IT worlds; a push towards greater unification after years of fragmentation across audiences, formats and workflows; the management of increasingly distributed content architectures; and sovereignty over content and data as a strategic priority.
These are just some of the ideas emerging from IBC 2026, and we will be exploring them in greater depth over the coming weeks. Stay tuned.
