Italian regional broadcaster Milano Pavia TV launches new HbbTV service

Icareus Video Cloud powers Milano Pavia's new HbbTV and OTT service

Milano Pavia TV, a regional broadcaster serving the Milan and Pavia areas in northern Italy, has launched a new connected TV service with Sofia Digital. Icareus Video Cloud provides the integrated OTT backend for live and on-demand streaming, with the intention of giving the broadcaster a flexible foundation for managing and developing its digital video offering, as the company has clamied in a statement.

Milano Pavia TV covers local news, business, sports, entertainment and community stories for audiences across Milan and Pavia. The new HbbTV service aims to extend the broadcaster’s content to connected televisions and give viewers a convenient way to access both live programming and on-demand content.

Sofia Digital delivered the HbbTV solution for Milano Pavia TV and integrated Icareus Video Cloud as the video platform supporting the service. The service was deployed in less than three months through close collaboration between Sofia Digital and Icareus.

“Milano Pavia TV is a great example of how broadcasters can accelerate their digital transformation through proven technology partnerships. Together with Sofia Digital, we delivered a scalable HbbTV and OTT solution that enables Milano Pavia TV to manage live and on-demand content efficiently, expand its audience reach, and build new revenue opportunities on top of a future-proof video platform”, explains Mikko Karppinen, Director of Icareu.
