Atomos releases AtomOS 10.73 which includes Apple ProRes RAW

Atomos has recently announced the release of AtomOS 10.73. The upgrade includes Apple ProRes RAW support on the NINJA V and NINJA V for the Canon EOS R5 C camera. With the new firmware, the users could record Apple ProRes RAW at up to 8K at 30fps with the NINJA V+.

With this release, Atomos and Canon enhance compact, and lightweight camera systems. The ability to capture 8K ProRes RAW in a camera of this size and form factor represents an advance, in words of the manufacturers. In addition to 8K at 30fps, the NINJA V+ provides support for 6K at 50fps and 60fps. The NINJA V/V+ offer support for 6K up to 30fps and 3K up to 60fps.

The built-in LTC input on the EOS R5 C means it is suited for multi-camera productions. It can be used in combination with the Atomos UltraSync One, wireless sync system to connect and synchronise multiple cameras. The technology is also compatible with the AtomX SYNC module for the NINJA V/V+, which means it can be wirelessly synchronised to a range of devices.

Atomos offers Apple ProRes RAW recording for over 30 cameras. ProRes RAW combines the visual and workflow benefits of RAW video with the incredible real-time performance of ProRes. ProRes RAW is fully supported in Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere Pro and Avid Media Composer, along with other applications including Assimilate Scratch, Colorfront, FilmLight Baselight and Grass Valley Edius.

“Our partnership with Canon has produced a remarkable advance in what we consider possible with small form factor cameras. The combination of the new Canon EOS R5 C and the Atomos NINJA V+ to record 8K ProRes RAW represents the kind of innovation we know our customers are looking for. With the AtomOS 10.73release available for download today we’re excited toto see how they will find new opportunities to create more incredible films,” Estelle McGechie, CEO, Atomos.
