Eurotape Media boosts productivity with upgrade to R&S®Clipster 6 Mark 2

Rohde & Schwarz, company specialized in broadcast distribution and a trusted partner in media solutions, has collaborated with its long-standing customer, Eurotape Media, to elevate their technology infrastructure, resulting in significant performance improvements. This upgrade includes the implementation of the latest version of the R&S®Clipster 6 Mark 2, which has enabled Eurotape Media to achieve a remarkable up to 100% increase in processing speed compared to previous versions.

Founded over four decades ago in Berlin, Germany, Eurotape Media has evolved into a prominent provider of broadcast masters for major broadcasters. In addition to its core services, Eurotape manages high-resolution film-to-digital transfers using a wet-gate Arriscan. Given its daily workflows, Eurotape Media routinely handles high-value, high-resolution, and large files that demand secure management, processing, and prompt delivery.

To meet these exacting demands, Eurotape has established a shared storage network based on the R&S®SpycerNode SC. This network offers extensive scalability and supports very high-bandwidth transfers, capable of reaching up to 22 Gb/s per node. Furthermore, the server network effortlessly manages files at resolutions up to 4k Ultra HD and beyond when necessary.

For creating numerous deliverables in various formats, Eurotape Media had previously standardized its operations on the R&S®Clipster. They have now further expanded their capabilities by upgrading to the latest and most powerful iteration, the R&S®Clipster 6 Mark 2, which seamlessly integrates into an automated work order system.

Ralf Jesse, Studio Manager at Eurotape, commented on the upgrade’s benefits, stating, “The additional power speeds up the mastering process. It also gives us the ability to work in resolutions above 4k. That is important because we scan at up to 6k, and now we do not need to downscale, which would be another time-consuming process. The same applies to HDR, which is now seamless in our delivery workflows.”

Eurotape CEO Mathias Jentzen emphasized the significance of the integrated solution of SpycerNode and Clipster, saying, “This is really the key to transforming the way we work. All our workstations – the film scanner, the grading, the retouch, the editing, and all the rest – are all on the SpycerNode, so we never have to duplicate data. From the scanner all the way to Clipster for deliverables, we never have to think about transferring files.”

André Vent, Sales Manager of Rohde & Schwarz Broadcast & Media, praised Eurotape Media’s reputation in a demanding industry and highlighted the successful partnership, saying, “Eurotape Media is a business with a huge reputation in a fast-paced industry known for its stringent requirements. With our systems integration partner SHM Broadcast GmbH, we were able to demonstrate to Eurotape how to scale storage capacity with a centralized approach. With SpycerNode SC, Eurotape Media has a scalable storage system for reliable and high-performance production.”
