Grass Valley supplies new IP production workflows to NBC Sports Group

NBC improves its headquarters in Stamford, CT with the power of open-architecture IP technology by the hand of Grass Valley. This update unlocks an unprecedented level of scalability and flexibility. It will be as if every customer could be in the sports venue from their living room couches. Actually, the experience could be even better.

The cornerstone of the project is Grass Valley´s Dynamic System Orchestrator GV Orbit. This is a configuration, control and monitoring solution designed to work with hybrid technologies, -it is able to orchestrate broadcast media across SDI or pure IP-.

Tim Canary, NBC Sports’ Vice President, wanted to ensure they are prepared for the return in live of major sports events and they trusted in the up and down scalability that Grass Valley’s IP technology can provides. In his own words, “part of NBC’s roadmap was to upgrade our routing topology at the Stamford site by 2023. […] We wanted to adopt a standards-based routing system that would enable us to evolve and add more functionality over time as needed. Grass Valley has been a trusted technology partner for years and we were impressed with their latest innovations in IP technology”.

NBC Sports Group expanded their equipment with Grass Valley’s Dynamic Software Processing solutions including the Dual Channel 4K UHD Format Converter SDI-IP Hybrid Application XIP-3901-UDC-IF, the Kaleido-IP Multiviewer and Audio Live Processor. These solutions provides a new level of production agility.
