LaLiga and StarTimes extend broadcast agreement in sub-saharan Africa until 2028/29

LaLiga and StarTimes have revealed the successful acquisition of non-exclusive broadcast rights for LaLiga EA Sports and LaLiga Hypermotion, Spain’s premier professional football leagues, for the upcoming five seasons.

This agreement ensures that LaLiga content will be accessible across the Sub-Saharan territory for multiple seasons, catering to audiences in all languages except French, including English, Portuguese, and local languages, thus reaching viewers in every country within the region.

Football enthusiasts can anticipate enjoying matches featuring their favorite LaLiga teams and players from the convenience of their homes.

“We are delighted to announce our successful bid for the LaLiga broadcast rights, securing access to one of the most prestigious football competitions globally. Soccer forms the cornerstone of StarTimes’ sports content strategy, and this latest acquisition underscores our commitment to delivering top-quality football entertainment to our subscribers,” commented Tiffany Shao, Sports Acquisition and Operation Director of StarTimes.

Melcior Soler, LaLiga’s Audiovisual Director, emphasized, “Connecting with our audience is paramount, and partnering with StarTimes is instrumental in delivering our premium content to all our fans in the Sub-Saharan region.”
