Lamar University impulses performance with Riedel’s AV solutions in mobile unit

Riedel Communications has announced an enhancement in the capabilities of Lamar University, a rapidly growing institution in Texas, through the integration of Riedel’s advanced communication solutions. This deployment spans across the university’s stadium control room and a newly designed 24-foot broadcast trailer crafted by Allied Broadcast Group. Lamar University now utilizes Riedel’s  equipment, including the Artist-1024 digital matrix intercom, 10 Bolero wireless beltpacks, and eight RSP-1216 SmartPanels, providing a unified system for multiple teams across various venues. This ensures efficient and reliable coverage for a diverse range of events, from sports activities to commencement ceremonies.

Scott Price, Associate Director of Broadcast and AV at Lamar University, expressed his satisfaction at the system’s flexibility, robustness, and clarity. The system’s capability to operate seamlessly even in crowded and noisy environments, along with its scalability and flexibility, contributed to Riedel being the solution selected by the university.

Previously challenged with coordinating multiple teams across different venues, Lamar University can now cover the entire campus with just three antennas. The integrated solutions in the control room and mobile unit streamline operations for various stakeholders involved in production, including camera operators, engineering teams, marketing professionals, athletic directors, and students. The mobile unit, mirroring the control room’s equipment, provides a familiar and flexible set of tools, allowing for cost-effective deployment to cover additional campus events.

Crafted by Allied Broadcast Group, the mobile unit offers a real-world experience for students in both control room and mobile truck environments, allowing them to learn broadcast operations using state-of-the-art professional equipment. This innovative setup not only addresses communication challenges but also opens up new possibilities for covering a wide range of campus events efficiently.”

“We are excited to support the next generation of professionals in learning our products — in both Lamar’s new control room and the mobile unit from Allied Broadcast. This deployment is significant for both Riedel and the industry as it demonstrates the versatility of Artist and Bolero solutions in educational settings as well as mobile units,” said Ben Gabrielson, Regional Sales Manager, Southwest, Riedel Communications. “We are thrilled to be involved with Lamar University and look forward to seeing how this collaboration will enhance their events as well as their students’ education.”
