Nagra Sport teams up with EBU to launch “Eurovision Sport” platform

In a groundbreaking move, Nagra Sport and the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) have joined forces to introduce “Eurovision Sport,” an innovative global direct-to-consumer (D2C) sports streaming service.

Set to redefine the way fans engage with sports content, Eurovision Sport offers free-to-air streaming access to major sporting events, boasting a user-friendly digital interface complete with diverse sport categories and tailored portals for Federations and sporting bodies. Powered by Nagra Sport, a division of Nagravision, the platform seamlessly manages content and user interactions, ensuring a seamless viewing experience for enthusiasts worldwide.

Embracing the ethos of public broadcast services, Eurovision Sport will be sustainably supported by advertising, sponsorships, FAST channels, and other monetization avenues, while seamlessly integrating with EBU Members and European Public Service Broadcasters to provide uninterrupted live event coverage across their networks.

Dedicated to innovation, Eurovision Sport is committed to empowering sports fans to personalize their viewing experiences. Notably, the platform is set to integrate Eurovox, an innovative AI-based live commentary translation service that will progressively support numerous languages across Europe.

Commenting on the partnership, André Kudelski, Chairman and CEO of the Kudelski Group, emphasized, “This initiative aligns with our strategic vision to shape the future of broadcast media. We are thrilled to collaborate with the EBU in offering fans an inventive platform to enjoy top-tier sports content via free-to-air streaming.”

Echoing this sentiment, Noel Curran, Director General of the EBU, expressed, “We strongly believe in making sports accessible to all. With our public service media Members already delivering many of the world’s premier sporting events to audiences free-to-air, our partnership with Nagravision ensures that this new digital platform will enable fans to never miss a moment of their favorite events.”

Eurovision Sport is now available for download on Android and iOS app stores, as well as via web and mobile web. Moreover, the service will soon be accessible through Connected TVs and select Free Ad-Supported Television (FAST) channels later in the year.
