Nilesat expands broadcast capabilities with PlayBox Neo solutions

Nilesat, one of the leading telecommunication networks in the Middle East, has expanded its broadcast channel management and playout infrastructure at its Cairo headquarters. This development is powered by PlayBox Neo, with support from their distribution partner, Modern Broadcast Center (MBC).

Nilesat’s Chief Technical Officer, Maissa Aly Kamel, highlighted the significant upgrade: “This is an addition to the 40 PlayBox Neo Channel-in-a-Box playout units we purchased in Q1 2019, elevating the total number to 70. The seamless operations and reliability of the systems continue to enhance our productivity.”

Pavlin Rahnev, CEO of PlayBox Neo, praised the flexibility and efficiency of their Channel-in-a-Box solution: “The success of our Channel-in-a-Box solution stems from the great flexibility which it offers television channel managers and network operators, combined with its inherent space efficiency and ease of maintenance.”

Detailing the installation, Nikolay Spasov, Head of the Technical Department at PlayBox Neo, stated, “We integrated 30 complete servers into the Nilesat teleport at Giza near the Egyptian capital. We delivered two 4K-UHD CIAB servers plus 13 HD/SD playout units, all with 1:1 redundancy.”

The PlayBox Neo Channel-in-a-Box solution includes playout automation with AirBox Neo-20, CG and interactive graphics with TitleBox Neo-20, media ingest with Capture Suite, and live media delivery and distribution with Media Gateway. AirBox Neo-20 supports automated content streaming and broadcast playout for any television channel, integrating a variety of media files and live inputs into a single playlist. It allows for multiple SDI/IP outputs streamed simultaneously in various video standards up to 4K.
