Paradigm and Tesacom provide high speed broadband at the South Pole

Hornet99 and Connect100t devices of Paradigm deployed in Antarctica

HORNET99 and CONNECT100T are the terminals chosen to deliver high speed broadband for the Argentine Antarctic Summer Campaign at a number of sites including Belgrano II, the southern permanent base of Argentina. The Paradigm’s flyway devices are operating on Inmarsat’s Global Xpress Ka-band network and supplied by Tesacom.

The connectivity offers high speed data services to transfer information between the remote polar landmass and the icebreaker vessel ARA Almirante Irizar. Additionally, it will help to optimize the efficiency of operational activities, including the transfer of actualized maps of navigation routes and meteorological information.

Regarding the Paradigm’s terminal, they are ready to be deployed in challenging environments. Furthermore, they can be controlled with the PIM (Paradigm Interface Module) controller which, according to the company, requires minimal training.

Ulf Sandberg, Managing Director at Paradigm, talks about the solution: “Not only can our PIM-enabled terminals be operated by anyone; this is also proof that location is no longer a restriction”.
