Proximus introduces multiscreen apps and AI-enabled content management

Proximus, a Belgium’s telecommunications company, has unveiled its latest innovation in entertainment technology, enhancing its Pickx service with a new set of applications developed in collaboration with 3 Screen Solutions (3SS). According to the company’s statements, the introduction of these applications marks a significant advancement in how viewers access and enjoy content across multiple devices.

The cornerstone of this rollout is the Vantiva Quartz set-top box, which is Wi-Fi-enabled and operates on the Android 12 platform, promising an enriched user experience with its super-aggregated entertainment service, Pickx. This service has been recognized for its exceptional user experience design, crafted by 3SS, and now includes seamless integration with popular streaming services like Netflix and a new pre-app experience for Disney+ to enrich content discovery.

Expanding beyond traditional set-top boxes, Proximus and 3SS have broadened the Pickx experience to Apple TV, iOS, and Android devices, employing the React Native cross-platform framework for development.

Jim Casteele, Consumer Market Lead at Proximus, highlighted the importance of this collaboration: “Proximus’ partnership with 3SS now spans many years, and we welcome the high level of creative input and innovation that 3SS brings to help ensure Pickx remains world-class. Embracing 3Ready as the service foundation helps us deliver the very best experience quality; furthermore, adopting a cross-platform development approach with React Native enables us to ship much quicker with more frequent releases than previously, allowing Proximus to deliver more, faster.”

The new Vantiva Quartz set-top box is not only more powerful and efficient than its predecessors, with 3 GB of RAM and the latest chip technology, but it’s also environmentally friendly, made from recycled plastic and 40% smaller. This innovation aligns with Proximus’ sustainability efforts, reducing the environmental impact of its devices.

The integration of 3SS’ 3Ready product platform ensures a seamless and engaging user experience across all devices, reinforcing Proximus’ position as a provider of premium content services. The Pickx service offers an extensive range of live TV channels, along with integrated subscriptions to Netflix, Disney+, and Proximus’ own Pickx Sports, creating a comprehensive entertainment package.
