Sapec’s Laguna solution interconnects the different offices of IB3 in the Balearic Islands

The Balearic Islands television operator IB3 has relied on Sapec’s solutions to connect the islands together. It recently faced the challenge of interconnecting the video transport so that the headquarters in Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera could send two signals to the central headquarters in Mallorca while, at the same time, they needed to receive the return from the central headquarters. All of this over IP. IB3 has prioritized scalability and the upgrade to HEVC, so they have relied on Laguna de Sapec.

The system is already in operation and has two Laguna QUADs at the main site in Mallorca and one at each secondary site that will manage the transport (encoding and decoding of these nine signals).

As a management system, the VideoIPxPoint software, also designed by Sapec, has been supplied to perform the IP connections/disconnections of the equipment, as well as visualize the general status and alarms of the equipment.

Laguna Media Processor models can be upgraded with functionality through software upgrades. Additions of SRT, SMPTE 2022-7, up and down conversion in both encoding and decoding, SCTE 104 <-> SCTE35 conversion, up to eight stereo audio channels per video signal and dual ASI output interfaces can be incorporated.
