Wheatstone’s VoxPro recording and editing technology empowers studio for patients

Ryan Seacrest Foundation impulse the opening of its 14th studio in medical installations, featuring VoxPro Recording

The Ryan Seacrest Foundation keeps on with its mission of bringing joy and creativity to young patients thanks to the opening of its 14th studio at Intermountain Primary Children’s Hospital. This latest addition, like its predecessors, incorporates Wheatstone’s VoxPro recording and editing technology for interactive patient engagement.

Since the inception of the first Seacrest studio at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta in 2010, each subsequent studio, including the most recent one in Salt Lake City, has been a beacon of live broadcasting, delivering over 30 hours of engaging content weekly on closed-circuit TV throughout the hospital. VoxPro plays a pivotal role, facilitating song requests and call-ins from patients through designated phone lines.

Nicole Mead, VP of Business Development & Operations for the Ryan Seacrest Foundation, shared, “We have designated phone lines like any radio station where they can call in to request favorite songs.” The foundation aims to empower young patients to explore the creative realms of radio, television, and multimedia during their hospital stays.

The studio provides an inclusive space where patients can actively participate, and for those in isolation unable to physically join, VoxPro ensures they remain part of the experience. Mead highlighted the significance, stating, “This gives them a way to be a part of it.”

Inspired by the positive impact of his broadcasts on young patients, Ryan Seacrest initiated the Seacrest Studios project. These hands-on radio, television, and media production studios are now present in children’s hospitals across the country, including locations in Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Dallas, Denver, Los Angeles, Memphis, Nashville, Orlando, Philadelphia, Queens (NY), Salt Lake City, and Washington (DC).

The studios, equipped with VoxPro controllers and software, have become a breeding ground for talent, with interns transitioning to successful careers in major industry players like ESPN and Spotify. Wheatstone’s generous donation through Broadcasters General Store ensures that VoxPro remains the universal standard for live editing in on-air control rooms and newsrooms, contributing to the positive impact of the Ryan Seacrest Foundation’s endeavors.

“We could not do what we do for these patients and their families without partnerships like this,” said Mead.
