Netflix maintains a list of approved cameras to ensure its original productions meet specific image capture and quality standards. The company evaluates factors such as dynamic range, color reproduction, image detail, resolution, and compatibility with professional production and post-production workflows.
According to Netflix’s technical guidance for the camera, the PYXIS 12K supports Blackmagic RAW recording up to 12K Open Gate, with multiple aspect ratios and anamorphic recording support featuring de-squeeze options of up to 2x. The documentation also notes the ability to record H.264 proxy files simultaneously with the original RAW files, as well as integration with DaVinci Resolve and Blackmagic Cloud.
The guide also references Blackmagic RAW compatibility with multiple color spaces, including ARRI LogC3 and LogC4, alongside high frame rate recording options of up to 112 fps in select 8K and 4K modes.
Netflix’s full technical documentation and official approved camera requirements are available through the Netflix Partner Help Center.
