Grass Valley has announced that Network18 Media & Investments, one of India’s largest media conglomerates, is deploying Grass Valley’s Playout X Solution based on AMPP OS, with the objective of modernizing its news playout operations. The system is now live across Network18’s linear, OTT, and web services, as Grass Valley has claimed in a statement.

Network18, operating over 25 television channels and with OTT and digital presence, was seeking to consolidate and streamline its operations under a single solution that could support both its broadcast and digital workflows. Playout X was selected for its open, format-agnostic architecture and its ability to integrate across multiple platforms.

“With Playout X, we now have a unified platform that brings together our linear, OTT, and web channels under one interface”, explains Rajesh Sharma, Sr. Vice President Technology and Operations, Network18. “Previously, we relied on multiple vendors to provide separate solutions, but Grass Valley’s open, integrated and flexible approach has allowed us to simplify operations, reduce costs, and accelerate workflows. This deployment not only addresses our immediate needs but also positions us strongly for future growth and innovation”.

“Speed and flexibility are critical for Network18. Playout X helps operations teams go live faster, respond instantly to change, and manage complex playlists with confidence as news priorities shift throughout the day”, adds Gaurhav Sethi, VP Sales South Asia, Grass Valley.

The new system, deployed across Network18’s facilities in both Noida and Mumbai, introduces an integrated ecosystem for playout, ingest, secondary recording, ad-replacement, watermarking, and OTT delivery.

Network18 and Grass Valley are discussing around future projects, with the intention of including potential upgrades in news production and expanded deployments.
