Sony has announced that NRJ Radio, one of France’s leading commercial radio broadcasters, has installed BRC-AM7 PTZ cameras across its studios as part of a modernization of its video infrastructure. In response to changing audience consumption habits and the growing importance of video within the radio industry, NRJ sought to enhance its production capabilities while preserving the aesthetics and ergonomics of its studios, as the company has claimed in a statement.
The studio redesign project aimed to replace the broadcaster’s existing camera fleet with a more modern solution capable of delivering high image quality while integrating discreetly into the studio environment.
“We needed to replace our older Sony cameras and install a compact, high-quality system that would blend seamlessly into the studio”, explains Mathieu Guinet, Technical Director at NRJ. “The available space was one of the project’s main constraints. We had to install several cameras in limited locations without compromising image quality or the experience of presenters and guests”.
BRC-AM7
To meet these requirements, NRJ selected Sony’s BRC-AM7, a PTZ camera designed for discreet integration while delivering image quality that meets current broadcast standards.
The BRC-AM7 is a compact 4K60p PTZ camera designed for broadcast, corporate and live event applications. It features AI-powered auto-framing capabilities, enhanced image quality and improved integration options.
“I know Sony’s products very well. In our environment, the BRC-AM7 offers an excellent balance of quality, price and size”, remarks Guinet.
“Everyone is very satisfied with the image quality”, he adds. “The cameras’ web interface is also extremely practical for day-to-day operations and monitoring.”
The evolution of video-enabled radio studios
The growing popularity of video content derived from radio broadcasts is gradually transforming radio studios into fully fledged audiovisual production spaces. PTZ cameras play a key role in this evolution thanks to their compact size, remote control capabilities and ability to integrate into environments where every centimetre counts.
NRJ now has an infrastructure designed to support the continued development of its video content, including live broadcasts, social media clips and digital productions linked to its radio programmes.
“Today’s video-enabled radio studios place high demands on image quality, discreet integration and ease of use. With the BRC-AM7, we have developed a PTZ camera capable of meeting these requirements. We are delighted that NRJ has chosen this solution to support the modernization of its studios and the expansion of its video content”, concludes Pascal Kerloch, Key Account Sales Director at Sony Europe.
