Football production rarely comes with a one-size-fits-all workflow. For NVP, taking on production services for both LaLiga EA Sports, Spain’s top division, and LaLiga Hypermotion, the second division, meant finding a way to support two different production models without creating two separate worlds behind the scenes. Its answer was a new production center in Madrid, built around Grass Valley’s AMPP, that brings centralized production, IP infrastructure and UHD HDR acquisition into a common operational environment

There is a lot to coordinate when you are producing hundreds of live football matches across a season.

For NVP, the challenge became particularly interesting when it was awarded a five-year contract to deliver production services for both LaLiga EA Sports and LaLiga Hypermotion.

The two competitions have different production requirements. Rather than forcing them into the same workflow, NVP took a more flexible approach: centralized production for LaLiga Hypermotion, alongside traditional outside broadcast production for LaLiga EA Sports, with both operating within a common technology environment.

At the heart of that approach is a new production center in Madrid. Six production galleries can produce multiple LaLiga Hypermotion matches simultaneously from a single location, supporting more than 800 match productions through eight compact REM-OB vans built specifically for the project by NVP and Video Progetti.

The Madrid operation is built around Grass Valley’s AMPP software-defined production environment. Production switching, replay, audio, routing, multiviewing and orchestration are brought together with the IP infrastructure supporting the facility.

That includes Maverik X for live production switching, Audio Mix for live audio production and LiveTouch X for instant replay. Creative Grading enables the 64 cameras dedicated to LaLiga Hypermotion to be shaded remotely from Madrid, while GV Orbit, Kaleido-IP multiviewers and IP gateway technology support the wider IP infrastructure.

The result is less about replacing one production model with another and more about giving NVP the freedom to use the right approach for each competition.

The same principle applies to acquisition. Grass Valley supplied 144 LDX 135 and LDX 150 camera systems across NVP’s production fleet, with 64 dedicated to LaLiga Hypermotion. The common camera platform provides UHD HDR acquisition across both competitions and means production teams are working with familiar equipment and workflows, whether a match originates in Madrid or from an OB setup.

“For NVP, AMPP has established a software-defined production environment that allows us to allocate production resources according to the requirements of each competition while maintaining a consistent operational approach across the wider LaLiga production ecosystem,” says Ivan Pintabona, Chief Technology Officer at NVP.

Getting the new operation ready for the start of the 2025–26 season was another part of the challenge. Video Progetti led the system integration, with installation, commissioning and testing completed in just two months.

Today, the two production models operate side by side. For NVP, that creates an approach that can handle the demands of high-volume football production while giving the operation room to adapt as those demands change.

As Pintabona puts it: “We now have a hybrid system that combines outstanding image quality with the scalability and reliability required for top-tier football production.”
