At the 2024 IBC Show (September 13-16), Teradek will launch its latest breakthrough, the Prism 877 Encoder/Decoder Cards, elevating broadcasting efficiency and channel density. Designed to enhance flexibility for broadcasters, these cards introduce a game-changing ability to switch between encoding and decoding modes on-demand, allowing for a more customizable workflow based on the specific needs of each event.
One of the standout features of the new Prism 877 cards is their optional license for simultaneous encoding and decoding, which, according to the company, effectively doubles the working capacity of the Prism Rack from 9 to 18 bi-directional channels.
“The Prism 877 Cards are a first in our segment of the market,” said Tyler Riddle, Live Streaming Product Manager at Teradek. “Teradek is among the few companies offering a dedicated hardware device that seamlessly switches between encoding and decoding, simplifying setups and reducing the need for multiple single-purpose cards.”
In addition to the Prism 877 Cards, IBC attendees will have the opportunity to see demos of Teradek’s Prism Mobile 5G and Ranger live video solutions, which have been transforming mobile production workflows around the world, company said.
Prism Mobile 5G —launched earlier this year—has already proved its capabilities with high-profile partners like NBA and NFL teams, NBC Universal, and FOX, as the company signals. This cutting-edge video encoder and cellular distribution tool is ideal for sports broadcasters, news crews, and live production teams. With great cellular connectivity over both public and private networks, Prism Mobile 5G combines compactness with power, with the goal of allowing camera operators to stay agile and capture uninterrupted live footage even in challenging environments.
Ranger, ‘Teradek’s true zero-delay wireless video system’, in the company’s words, has been gaining traction in a wide range of live events, from commencement ceremonies to major league sports. Operating on the newly opened 6GHz frequencies, Ranger delivers visually lossless IMAG and offers two versions: the Mk II and Micro. Both models are designed to handle productions of varying sizes and complexity, providing flexibility for broadcasters. IBC attendees will have the chance to test these systems firsthand.
Teradek’s presence at IBC will be highlighted at booth 13A05 in Hall 13, where visitors can experience the Prism 877 4K HEVC Encoder/Decoder Cards alongside the rest of the company’s advanced live production tools.
