Imagine Communications has implemented an automated and integrated workflow designed to try to support reliable, fast turnaround for news transmission at Media Prima Berhad, Malaysia’s media and entertainment company. Based on Imagine’s industry-proven Nexio+ AMP high-performance video servers, the objective of the solution is to enable operators to work faster, smarter, and more efficiently, as the company has claimed in a statement.

Media Prima Berhad operates four television channels — TV3, 8TV, NTV7, and TV9 — and is also home to Malaysia’s content production company, Primeworks Studios, and video streaming platform Tonton. Looking to modernize and streamline its news production workflow, Media Prima Berhad implemented an automated Imagine solution that tightens the news production process from ingest to delivery over multiple platforms.

The new Imagine system combines Nexio+ AMP production servers, ingest tools, IOX Storage, and the Nexio MOS Gateway, which integrates with Media Prima Berhad’s Octopus newsroom computer system (NRCS) and EditShare asset management platform.

Imagine’s Nexio+ AMP servers have the intention of offering a better quality and reliability for all broadcast-grade codecs and high-availability playout and ingest operations. The Versio Ingest Scheduler optimizes resources with an intelligent control application that simplifies scheduled and crash records. Imagine’s IOX Storage enables capacity or bandwidth to be scaled, and the Nexio MOS Gateway ensures all the moving parts in the newsroom workflow tick along like clockwork. Working in concert with the NRCS, the Nexio MOS Suite of tools ties together all components into a single solution for making news.

The new Imagine newsroom system at Media Prima Berhad was implemented in association with local Imagine partner and systems integrator Ace Identity.
