CNBC UK deploys MediaKind Beam for distributed live news workflows

CNBC UK selects MediaKind’s Beam for cloud-connected contribution and distribution

MediaKind has announced that CNBC UK has selected Beam to modernize its infrastructure. The channel’s objective is to bring greater flexibility, resilience and cloud-connected control to its live broadcast operations, as the company has claimed in a statement.

The project will refresh CNBC UK’s infrastructure to enable its teams to reliably move live news feeds between geographically distributed bureaus, studios and downstream production and playout environments.

“For a global news organization, speed and reliability are critical. The new architecture is designed around three priorities: low latency, resiliency and channel density, while giving our operational teams greater visibility and control across distributed infrastructure”, explains Neil Burt, Senior Director Technical Operations EMEA at CNBC UK.

Beam also introduces a more flexible software model, designed to allow processing licenses to operate independently of individual servers andto select appropriately sized commercial-off-the-shelf infrastructure for each location.

Features

  • Low-latency contribution and distribution for time-sensitive live news.
  • High-density media processing across geographically distributed locations.
  • Software licensing without tying capacity to a specific server.
  • Secure cloud connectivity for centralized monitoring and management.
  • A modern foundation for evolving broadcast, contribution and streaming workflows.

“Modern video infrastructure increasingly needs to combine the performance of professional media processing with the operational simplicity of cloud-connected software”, adds Tony Berthaud, SVP sales, EMEA & APAC. “With Beam, CNBC UK can modernize a proven contribution and distribution environment while gaining the flexibility and control required for today’s distributed video operations”.

MediaKind will showcase Beam and its cloud-connected portfolio for contribution, distribution, processing and streaming at IBC2026, on stand 1.D71 at RAI Amsterdam.
