Formula E accelerates broadcast reach with multi-year partnership
In a strategic move aimed at expanding the global reach of Formula E, the electric motorsport racing series has forged a new multi-year partnership with key players in the broadcast industry. Collaborating with Red Bull Media House, DF1, and ServusTV, Formula E is set to broaden its presence in Germany and Austria, encompassing free-to-air (FTA), pay TV, and digital platforms.
The Formula E World Championship races and qualifying sessions will be broadcast live on the recently launched FTA channel, DF1, in Germany. This agreement marks a significant milestone for Formula E, representing its most extensive free-to-air programming distribution in Germany since its inception.
In Germany, ServusTV Motorsport, the dedicated motorsport channel on Deutsche Telekom’s pay TV service, Magenta TV, along with the digital platform ServusTV On and speedweek.com, will also provide live coverage of Formula E races and qualifying sessions. Austria will witness all 17 races of the championship airing live on ServusTV, including coverage on ServusTV’s digital channels.
The upcoming tenth season of the Formula E World Championship is scheduled to kick off on January 13, culminating in the grand finale in London on July 21. Notably, Formula E takes pride in being a certified net-zero carbon sport since its inaugural season in 2014.
Aarti Dabas, Chief Media Officer of Formula E, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating, “This exciting collaboration with Red Bull Media House, ServusTV, and DF1 marks a significant milestone in bringing Formula E’s racing to Germany and Austria—a region with a deep-rooted passion for motorsport. As we gear up for our most dynamic season yet, including a double-header race in Berlin, fans in these key markets will have access to more live race programming than ever before through free-to-air channels.” This move reflects Formula E’s commitment to engaging audiences in these crucial markets and elevating the viewing experience for motorsport enthusiasts.”
