Black Box presents its new Emerald PE PoE and ZeroU DisplayPort Solutions for KVM Installations

Black Box has presented two new products for the high-performance KVM signal switching and extension. One of them is the extension of the Emerald Unified KVM platform, with power over Ethernet (PoE) version of Emerald PE transmitters and receivers for demanding HD applications. Also, the company premiered a new ZeroU DisplayPort transmitter designed for facilities with limited rack space.
The Emerald KVM connects any workstation to any server or virtual machine on the KVM network. Consequently, Black Box assures that the heat-generating CPU units can be moved to a centralized location, not losing performance from the workstation’s keyboard and mouse. Emerald PE transmitters and receivers enable extension and matrix switching of HD DVI video, transparent USB 2.0, and bidirectional analog audio between any number of users and computers, servers, or virtual machines.
The IP-based KVM solution features built-in system redundancy with dual network ports and can be deployed as a point-to-point KVM extender connecting the user to a remote computer or, when scaled up, can serve as a managed KVM matrix switching system. According to Black Box, with the new PoE option, Emerald PE devices can be powered over CATx cable via a PoE-capable network switch and can even serve as a redundant power supply in the event that the power adapter goes down.
On the other hand, The Black Box compact ZeroU transmitter uses the Emerald SE receiver allowing a seamless desktop experience on a TCP/IP network. Supporting visually lossless full HD video up to 1920 X1200 and typically requiring less than 40Mbps for 1080p video, both the DVI and DisplayPort models of the ZeroU transmitter  will allow high-performance connectivity, according to Black Box.
