According to the company, its latest innovation in remote recording, Cleanfeed Cinema, is already reshaping workflows for audio postproduction facilities worldwide by seamlessly blending studio-quality audio with real-time, high frame rate video over the internet
Debuting successfully at NAB 2024, Cleanfeed Cinema, the newest remote recording solution from Cleanfeed, is allowing audio postproduction facilities to redefine their processes by merging studio-quality audio with real-time, high frame rate video over the internet. Among the pioneering adopters of Cleanfeed Cinema are Parabolic in New York, Forever Audio in London, and Telegael in Ireland, where Head of Sound Ciarán Ó Tuairisc hails the new product as a ‘game changer’: “We’ve long relied on Cleanfeed’s audio remote recording software for its broadcast quality sound and user-friendly interface,” Ó Tuairisc remarks. “When we learned about Cleanfeed’s foray into video alongside audio, we were eager to test it out. The initial demos convinced us of its value. As soon as Cleanfeed Cinema was available, we embraced it and have been using it successfully, particularly for client reviews and ADR sessions.”
Cleanfeed Cinema, that will be showcased at the Media Production & Technology Show in London from May 15-16th, 2024 (stand M36), is tailored for synchronous remote collaboration and audio production, addressing a long-standing need in the film and broadcast industry. Whether it’s recording ADR, mixing sessions, narration, dubbing, or conducting real-time audio reviews with remote guests, Cleanfeed Cinema provides the solution, tech firm claims. The development of this product stemmed from the demand for a unified tool that grants professionals access to both video and audio during remote collaborations with talent, production teams, and clients.
Cleanfeed had already established itself as a leader in ultra-low latency online studio for live audio and recording, introduced in 2014 by company founders Marc Bakos and Mark Hills, who boast extensive experience in the broadcast and post-production sectors, the company also stated. Alongside the Emmy awarded to Cleanfeed in 2022, Mark Hills also holds an Academy Award in the Scientific and Technical category for his earlier contributions to CGI rendering for film.
Employing proprietary video delivery technology for minimal latency, Cleanfeed Cinema was engineered to swiftly transmit video to its recipients. It offers high-definition imagery at a consistent frame rate, crucial for users working on frame-accurate footage where synchronization between audio and visuals is paramount. For multi-Emmy and IFTA award-winning Telegael, reliable remote production tools are indispensable due to its remote location on the west coast of Ireland, far from international producers, distributors, and broadcasters it regularly collaborates with.
“Given our location, remote links ups have been integral to our operations,” notes Ciarán Ó Tuairisc. “We frequently conduct ADR sessions with actors filming in Ireland or attending events like the Galway Film Festival, necessitating broadcast quality audio and seamless synchronization.” Impressed by Cleanfeed’s audio quality and usability, Telegael was an early adopter and has utilized the software on numerous productions for esteemed clients.
“It’s user-friendly and consistently delivers perfect audio,” Ó Tuairisc affirms. “Since adopting it, we haven’t looked back.”
Cleanfeed Cinema builds upon the advantages of its predecessor, offering a video feed viewable by up to 16 guests simultaneously. With no complex logins or firewall adjustments required, Cleanfeed Cinema’s secure, encrypted in-browser stream prioritizes low latency, making it ideal for low bandwidth scenarios. The software provides 2K, 60fps cinema streaming, maintains frame rate for cue and timing, and offers optional full-screen workflows.
“Unlike other solutions with buffered video delivery, Cleanfeed Cinema ensures simultaneous viewing, crucial for real-time collaboration,” remarks Marc Bakos. “With Cleanfeed Cinema, it’s everything, everywhere at exactly the same time.”
At Telegael, Cleanfeed Cinema has streamlined daily project reviews, ensuring perfect synchronization between audio and visuals. “Previously, we relied on Zoom for visuals and Cleanfeed for audio, with occasional synchronicity issues,” Ó Tuairisc explains. “With Cleanfeed Cinema, both audio and visuals are flawless, making a significant difference.”
