The collaboration between Grass Valley and NVP introduces a new production infrastructure for LaLiga, based on UHD HDR capture, hybrid workflows, and operational scalability. The deployment enables the management of more than 760 matches per season with consistent quality and flexibility, aligning with the league’s strategy to maintain technological leadership in broadcast production.

The evolution of sports production demands infrastructures capable of combining image quality, operational efficiency, and adaptability. In this context, Grass Valley and NVP have completed a technical deployment for LaLiga that sets a new standard in live football production. The project responds to the requirements defined by LaLiga to modernize its production ecosystem, with a focus on scalable, future-ready workflows, enabling the management of more than 760 matches per season across LaLiga EA Sports and LaLiga Hypermotion with consistent visual quality.

NVP, with a strong track record in international sports production, has developed this deployment with a focus on operational efficiency and premium quality. The combination of production in outside broadcast units and remote environments allows for resource optimization without compromising performance. This hybrid model provides greater flexibility in competition coverage, adapting to different production requirements while maintaining consistent technical standards across all matches.

The deployed infrastructure includes 144 LDX 135 and LDX 150 cameras, integrated into mobile units that combine traditional and remote production. These cameras enable native 4K UHD capture, simultaneous UHD HDR and HD SDR production, and high-speed recording to enhance replay quality and live visual storytelling. This approach ensures uniform coverage regardless of the production type.

From a technical standpoint, the solution combines SDI and NativeIP connectivity, enabling hybrid workflows adaptable to different operational environments. JPEG XS compression directly from the camera optimizes bandwidth usage, especially in remote production scenarios where transmission efficiency is critical. This is complemented by a flexible licensing model that allows advanced features such as super slow motion to be activated as needed, providing agility without requiring infrastructure redesign.

The project was implemented in collaboration with Video Progetti S.r.l., meeting a tight timeline ahead of the season start. The result is a scalable production environment, ready to evolve and capable of meeting the growing demand for quality and efficiency in sports broadcasting.

Key deployment data

  • 144 cameras (LDX 135 and LDX 150)
  • More than 760 matches per season
  • 15 mobile units (7 for LALIGA EA Sports, 8 for LaLiga Hypermotion)
  • 4K UHD production with HDR
  • Hybrid SDI + NativeIP workflows
  • Integrated traditional and remote production

“With LDX 150 and LDX 135, we are not only investing in cameras, but in the future of live production. These systems allow us to deliver UHD HDR productions with maximum reliability and scale quickly according to needs”, Ivan Pintabona.
