Matrox Video has announced the integration of Unreal Engine plug-in support for its DSX LE5, DSX LE6 Series, and X.mio5 12G SDI and SMPTE ST 2110 NIC cards
The newly supported 12G SDI cards offer up to four 12G inputs and four 12G outputs, while the ST 2110 NIC cards provide 25 GbE and 100 GbE connections, supporting up to eight channels of UHD inputs and outputs or two channels of 8K resolution. This integration meets the growing demand for high-resolution and high-quality virtual production environments, allowing OEMs and system integrators to seamlessly incorporate SDI and ST 2110 into their workflows. The plug-in is compatible with both Windows and Linux operating systems.
Enhanced virtual studio workflows
Matrox’s X.mio5 video boards, now featuring Unreal Engine support, are especially notable for their exceptional handling of interlaced video inputs and outputs. The integration leverages Matrox’s onboard broadcast-quality Motion Adaptive De-interlacer, ensuring that Unreal Engine receives clean progressive video inputs, an essential feature for achieving high-quality visuals in virtual studio and production applications.
“We’re thrilled to be working with partners that recognize our field-proven ST 2110 NIC cards, which make it easy for virtual production applications to meet stringent PTP requirements,” said Francesco Scartozzi, Vice President of Sales & Business Development at Matrox Video. “As a trusted supplier of ST 2110 NIC cards, it’s exciting to see our products being adopted in this expanding market.”
Powering the future of virtual production with ST 2110 and Unreal Engine
The combination of Matrox Video’s ST 2110 NIC cards and the Unreal Engine plug-in, supported by AMD-based systems, is paving the way for innovative virtual production solutions. One example is Qube Cinema, a key player in India’s advertising and virtual production space. The company is leveraging this powerful integration to push the boundaries of in-camera visual effects.
“AMD is collaborating closely with industry leaders like Matrox to advance an all-AMD CPU, GPU, and FPGA-based workflow for virtual production in-camera visual effects,” said Aaron Behman, Project Lead for Strategic Workstream on In-Camera VFX at AMD. “Matrox Video’s leadership in IP-based broadcast solutions, combined with their DSX LE5 and LE6 Series ST 2110 NICs, is a critical element of an all-AMD-based workflow.”
Optimizing workflows
The combination of Unreal Engine support with Matrox’s robust hardware solutions ensures seamless integration for virtual production environments, adhering to the most demanding broadcast standards. The company’s DSX LE and X.mio series cards provide high-quality SDI and IP-based workflows, while the ST 2110 NIC cards offer reliable, high-bandwidth connections that meet the precision timing required for virtual studios.
