Prime Sports launches new interactive features and AI-powered enhancements for the NBA

Prime Sports has announced a suite of interactive features and AI-powered broadcast enhancements with the intention of offering new levels of personalization and engagement for fans. The innovations will advance the NBA on Prime’s slate of exclusive regular and post-season NBA coverage, as well as Prime Video’s NBA content available through add-on subscriptions, which include NBA League Pass and FanDuel Sports Network RSNs, as the company has claimed in a statement.

Set to debut is an opt-in personalized bet tracking experience with FanDuel, a customizable Multiview offering, AI-driven highlights on demand, live stats, shop the game opportunities, among others.

“Since Day 1, we’ve challenged ourselves to invent features that heighten, customize and add storytelling elements for fans within the live sports experience”, explained Jay Marine, Head of Prime Video U.S., Global Sports & Advertising. “As we tip off this long-term relationship with the NBA, we’re excited to launch a best-in-class bet tracking experience with FanDuel, as well as a wide-ranging suite of broadcast innovations to enhance Prime Video’s comprehensive NBA offerings. As we’ve demonstrated through our coverage of Thursday Night Football and NASCAR, our innovation teams are continuously raising the bar and exploring what is possible within our produced coverage and add-on subscriptions”.

The NBA on Prime’s inaugural season will feature the following innovations:

Bet tracking and Odds View with FanDuel

Prime Sports’ new, opt-in personalized bet tracking experience with FanDuel brings together the streaming service for live sports with America’s #1 Sportsbook. The feature presents a real-time integration of betting information during live game action. When a fan links their Prime Video profile to their FanDuel account, their active NBA bets will be displayed and updated on the screen, along with relevant progress and won/lost status. The bet tracking feature does not offer the ability to place bets directly on Prime Video.

Assitionally, it can be activated an Odds View experience (available on supported devices) that presents a rotating feed of live odds, lines and probabilities associated with popular bets, including moneylines, spreads, totals, player props, parlays, game props, and more.

Responsible gaming is a principle of the bet tracking and Odds View experience for FanDuel and Prime Video, which is optional and can be disabled in the Prime Video mobile app settings.

Multiview

It allows viewers who subscribe to Prime Video and NBA League Pass to simultaneously watch a combination of NBA on Prime and NBA League Pass games across different devices, including smartphones and smart TVs. Fans can create their viewing setup by selecting their primary game for the larger window while keeping tabs on other NBA matchups in smaller windows.

Key Moments

Utilizing Prime’s proprietary AI models, at any point in the game, users can relive or catch up on the growing collection of in-game highlights, each featuring a full description of the play.

Rapid Recap

Rapid Recap provides a highlight reel that brings fans who join a game late up to speed in two minutes or less. It employs AI to compile basketball moments for the viewer, and transitions them into live action once the recap concludes.

Stats

It offers a way to check player and team stats throughout the game. Provides access to traditional box score stats, along with stats powered by AWS, all in real-time without leaving the live game.

Shop the Game

NBA on Prime is shoppable with Shop the Game. Viewers can find great deals, inspiring game-day fashion, and official NBA merchandise from brands like Pro Standard and Game . Viewers can access this shopping experience in two ways: by searching “shop the game” in the Amazon Shopping app, or by using their remote’s “up” button while watching NBA on Prime games to reveal an interactive Shop tab that sends instant notifications to their mobile device.

Native High Dynamic Range (HDR) Productions with Proprietary Ultra-Low Latency Tech

All NBA on Prime broadcasts are produced in native 1080p High Dynamic Range (HDR) video and 5.1 surround sound. Additionally, Prime Video and AWS technology aim to create a livestreaming solution that delivers ultra-low latency, eliminates drift and ensures synchronization.

NBA Coverage

Prime Video will tip off its 11-year global media rights agreement with the NBA on October 24, with 67 regular-season games, including a new Black Friday doubleheader, all games from the Knockout Rounds of the Emirates NBA Cup (including Semifinals and Finals), and exclusive presentations of the NBA Berlin and London Games in January. It will also present exclusive coverage of every postseason SoFi NBA Play-In Tournament game, first and second-round playoff games, and Conference Finals in six of the next 11 years. Additionally, Prime Video will serve as the partner and third-party global subscriptions store destination for NBA League Pass, offering streaming of live and on-demand games in the U.S. and internationally via add-on subscription.

The NBA on Prime’s inaugural season begins on Friday, October 24 with a doubleheader featuring the Boston Celtics at New York Knicks (7:30 p.m. ET) followed by Minnesota Timberwolves at Los Angeles Lakers (10:00 p.m. ET). Coverage begins at 7:00 p.m. ET with the NBA on Prime pregame show, live from Amazon Studios in Culver City. The broadcast team will provide pregame, halftime, and postgame coverage, with ‘The Crossover’ bridging doubleheaders, and ‘NBA Nightcap’ offering a one-hour postgame show featuring player interviews and in-depth analysis.
