Today marks a significant stride in the realm of digital innovation as Red Hat and Oracle join forces to bring Red Hat OpenShift to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, while simultaneously Bangladesh accelerates its Smart Bangladesh Vision 2041 through the launch of a sovereign government cloud powered by Oracle
- Red Hat and Oracle Partner to Bring Red Hat OpenShift to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
Red Hat, Inc., provider of open source solutions, in collaboration with Oracle, has announced the general availability of Red Hat OpenShift on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Compute Virtual Machines (VMs). This milestone combines the prowess of Red Hat OpenShift, the hybrid cloud application platform fueled by Kubernetes, with OCI’s distributed cloud spanning 69 regions and counting. With OCI’s extensive reach, Red Hat OpenShift can now be deployed in locations and operational models that cater best to customer needs for regulatory compliance, performance, and cost-effectiveness.
This endeavor builds upon the existing partnership between Red Hat and Oracle, which commenced with the certification of Red Hat Enterprise Linux for OCI bare metal and Oracle VMware Cloud Solution workloads.
The collaboration extends further as Red Hat Enterprise Linux certification and Red Hat OpenShift integration on OCI offer customers the assurance to install, migrate, and operate Red Hat OpenShift workloads, backed by transparent support agreements between the two entities. Supported installations include Red Hat OpenShift Platform Plus, Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform, and Red Hat OpenShift Kubernetes Engine, empowering customers to seamlessly manage their Red Hat OpenShift ecosystem through their Red Hat portal.
OCI’s distributed cloud landscape encompasses various offerings tailored to different needs, including Oracle Government Cloud regions, OCI Dedicated Regions, partner-enabled Oracle Alloy regions, Compute Cloud@Customer, and Oracle EU Sovereign Cloud. Notably, Red Hat OpenShift versions 4.14 and 4.15 are validated for installation on OCI Compute flexible virtual machine shapes across these offerings. This deployment flexibility proves crucial for organizations operating in industries with intricate regulatory environments, such as telecommunications, finance, and healthcare, as well as those spanning multiple jurisdictions. OCI Compute flexible virtual machine shapes and OCI Block Storage auto-tuning volumes optimize performance at competitive price points.
Additionally, plans for bare metal validation are on the horizon, promising further scalability and performance enhancements.
Attendees of the Red Hat Summit 2024, held in Denver, Colorado from May 6-9, have the opportunity to delve deeper into the integration of Red Hat OpenShift on OCI.
- Empowering Bangladesh’s Digital Transformation with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
Bangladesh Data Center Company Limited (BDCCL), the government-owned entity responsible for data storage and disaster recovery services, has launched the Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Dedicated Region within its data centers. This initiative is a pivotal step in Bangladesh’s cloud-led digital transformation, aligned with the Smart Bangladesh Vision 2041.
The sovereign government cloud, powered by OCI Dedicated Region, enables Bangladesh to maintain control over its cloud infrastructure and data within its borders. With over 30 government agencies leveraging Oracle’s cloud services, including national security systems, e-governance platforms, health services, and more, Bangladesh ensures compliance with governance, regulatory standards, and data privacy requirements.
OCI Dedicated Region facilitates rapid deployment of new applications and services while delivering cost efficiencies and agility. By keeping all data and operations within Bangladesh, OCI Dedicated Region provides a secure, self-contained environment designed for single-tenant usage. This initiative underscores Oracle’s commitment to providing advanced cloud solutions, including AI capabilities, tailored to sovereign entities’ needs.
The establishment of Bangladesh’s government cloud signifies a significant public-private partnership aimed at accelerating the country’s digital transformation. Supported by Oracle’s cutting-edge technology, this initiative aligns with Bangladesh’s vision for a smart and developed nation by 2041.
This initiative has been implemented under the auspices of Bangladesh’s Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Division and is certified to run Oracle Fusion Cloud Applications Suite, offering a fully integrated cloud experience.
