Inside DAZN’s Madrid hub: A key facility for F1 production

DAZN’s production centre in Madrid, located at its offices at Avenida General Perón 40, is the hub from which the platform coordinates a significant part of its audiovisual production operations. TM BROADCAST had the opportunity to visit the facilities and take an in-depth look at their infrastructure in a report published in 2024.

The hub was created by converting a space originally intended for offices into a production centre integrated by TBS. Its facilities include two complete studios, each with its own control gallery and sound room, as well as an MCR responsible for managing signal acquisition and contribution and monitoring the quality of external connections. A hybrid audio and video router allows the various resources to be distributed between galleries, studios, booths and commentary positions.

One of its most notable elements is the virtual studio, inaugurated in February 2024 and based on Vizrt technology. Its 360-degree virtual set makes it possible to adapt the space to different competitions and integrate graphics, data, augmented reality and video feeds in real time.

Remote production is another key element of the infrastructure. In the case of Formula 1, the hub has point-to-point fibre-optic connections with the championship circuits and allows certain technical resources deployed at the venues to be controlled from Madrid.

This architecture is precisely what underpins DAZN’s usual coverage and helps explain the hybrid model developed for the Madrid Grand Prix: a centralised production core at General Perón combined with a reinforced on-site operation.
