The experience agency Journey has acquired Dimension in its strategy to reimagine design and production across multiple mediums, and to forge lasting value for audiences and partners alike. This partnership, which also includes the other studios across their portfolio, has the objective of delivering new shows and productions at scale on the global stage, as Dimension has claimed in a statement.
Additionally, the acquisition looks forward to allowing a major investment in the technology platform that the company uses to deliver content to media producers and production companies all over the world.
Dimension joins Journey’s global family of studios: 59, Squint/Opera, ICRAVE and VMI. The transaction was supported by private equity firm Growth Catalyst Partners, which targets investments in tech-enabled creative businesses.
“We’re really excited to become a part of the group of companies that sit under the Journey banner and are happy to have the opportunity to scale our combined capabilities across design, media, and next-generation production”, shares Dimension.
It also affirms that they will continue to focus on delivering work for their existing clients and partners, without changing how they do that. Co-CEOs Steve Jelley and Simon Windsor, and CTO Callum Macmillan will continue to run the studio as they have done up until this point.
Commenting on the deal, Jelley adds: “Dimension is a trusted partner and co-producer for filmmakers everywhere, helping them to embrace the creative potential of Real-time, virtual and AI production technologies. It provides opportunities for everyone to expand those partnerships to deliver amazing experiences in any medium”.
Windsor continues: “This partnership is as much about people as it is about virtual production and technology. Journey’s design-led ethos aligns perfectly with our culture of creative experimentation and production innovation. Together, we can empower clients and visionary creators to tell stories in ways the world has never seen”.
“At Journey, we believe the future of design belongs to those who can bridge imagination, storytelling, and technology”, notes Andrew Zimmerman, CEO of Journey. “Dimension embodies that philosophy completely. Together, we’re not just creating new forms of content; we’re inventing new ways for people to experience the world”.
